Abstract
Reaction of formaldehyde with 2,2'-dihydroxy-3,3'-di-tert-butyldipheny (1) in basic media affords calix[4]arenes 2 or dihomomonooxacalix[4]a renes 3 depending on the solvent (xylene or Cl2CHCHCl2) Temperature de pendent H-1-NMR studies of compounds 3 are reported.
