Ts. Demkina et Va. Demkin, CHANGES IN THE HUMOUS STATUS OF DRY AND DESERT STEPPE SOILS DURING HISTORICAL TIME, Eurasian soil science, 27(7), 1995, pp. 10-19
Humus profile features have been studied for soils buried under mound
hills of various ages-Bronze, Early Iron, and Medieval times. Trends a
nd rate in humous content changes during the last 45 centuries have be
en revealed. Microbiological activity was for the first time determine
d for paleosols of archaeological monuments of the steppe belt of Euro
pean Russia. The correlation of natural and anthropogenic agents in th
e time changeability of soil humous status has been found.
