Abstract
Severe trauma to the liver and juxtahepatic cava require vascular isol ation of the lesion. In addition to the techniques of vascular clampin g and atriocaval shunting, venovenous bypass is a viable alternative t o repair such injuries. We herein report its use in five consecutive p atients. The technique obviates the hemodynamic sequelae of uncompensa ted caval occlusion and the technical dangers of atriocaval shunting.
