Varicose vein sclerosing agents are very widely used in clinical pract
ice: essentially polidocanol, sodium tetradecylsulfate. They can be re
sponsible for local or systemic complications, among which immune-alle
rgic reactions appear to be very rare. The authors report four cases o
f allergic reactions, two with polidocanol and two with tetradecylsulf
ate. Allergological investigation is difficult in view of the risk of
cutaneous necrosis during skin tests.
