G. Cormier et Df. Kersey, CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF A WAREHOUSE FOR JUST-IN-TIME OPERATIONS IN A BAKERY, Computers & industrial engineering, 29, 1995, pp. 361-365
This paper outlines some analysis and design principles for a central
distribution facility to support a just-in-time (J.I.T.) operating phi
losophy, derived from a case study at a large bakery. Various facets o
f the study are presented including the determination of storage and t
hroughput requirements, a conceptual ware house layout, and an economi
c analysis. The paper concludes with a description of an alternative d
esign as well as a retrospective discussion on the potential use of op
erations research and computer simulation in such a study.
