Abstract
In this article an overview of the techniques and the role of process planning within today's modern manufacturing industry is identified. C haracteristics and critical issues associated with the evaluation and selection of a CAPP system are also discussed. Finally, the stages ass ociated with the design and implementation of a Knowledge-Based Comput er-Aided Process Planning is identified. The developed system is struc tured based feature-based modeling, geometric dimensioning and toleran cing, and group technology.
