We describe 3 Japanese patients having both serum anti-DNA topoisomera
se T and anti-Sm antibodies. All 3 patients had typical features of sy
stemic lupus erythematosus, such as glomerulonephritis, in addition to
skin thickening and systemic sclerosis related organ involvement, inc
luding pulmonary interstitial fibrosis and renal crisis. This is the f
irst report of the coexistence of these 2 disease specific autoantibod
ies.
