Abstract
We realized and studied a novel dielectric multilayer structure enhanc ing evanescent waves, that can be used to improve atomic mirrors. The laser beam is resonantly coupled, via optical tunneling, into the uppe r layer which acts as a waveguide. The enhancement factor has been ind irectly measured with a m-line type method.
