We study the quantum fluctuations of a light beam reflected by an opti
cal cavity with one harmonically bound mirror. Due to radiation pressu
re, the mirror is displaced and the cavity has an intensity-dependent
length. The statistical properties of the reflected light are studied
by a semi-classical approach including the thermal fluctuations of the
mechanical motion. The results indicate that the optomechanical coupl
ing between the light and the minor behaves as an effective Kerr mediu
m. Near the bistability turning points, we obtain a significant quantu
m-noise reduction effect, even at non zero temperature.
