Ek. Naderali et Nl. Poyser, EFFECTS OF CAFFEINE AND THEOPHYLLINE ON PROSTAGLANDIN PRODUCTION BY GUINEA-PIG ENDOMETRIUM, Prostaglandins, leukotrienes and essential fatty acids, 56(1), 1997, pp. 63-67
Caffeine and theophylline increased prostaglandin output from day 7 an
d day 15 guinea-pig endometrium in culture. Ryanodine and forskolin ha
d no effect on endometrial prostaglandin output. These results show th
at methylxanthines stimulate endometrial prostaglandin synthesis. Howe
ver, the intracellular mechanisms involved apparently do not entail an
increase in the intracellular free calcium concentration by activatio
n of a ryanodine-sensitive receptor or an increase in the cyclic AMP c
oncentration.
