Sm. Armstrong et al., CONVERSION OF DIBENZOTHIOPHENE TO BIPHENYL BY SULFATE-REDUCING BACTERIA ISOLATED FROM OIL-FIELD PRODUCTION FACILITIES, Biotechnology letters, 17(10), 1995, pp. 1133-1136
Numerous purified and characterized sulfate-reducing bacteria and bact
erial communities isolated from oil-field production facilities were s
hown to convert dibenzothiophene (DBT) into biphenyl (BP). The maximum
degree of conversion to biphenyl was 1.14% and 0.39% for purified sul
fate-reducing bacteria and community bacteria, respectively. The purif
ied sulfate-reducing bacteria and bacterial communities were identifie
d by 16S rRNA ribotyping.
