A. Gal et al., AFFINITY LABELING BY ATP AND GTP OF THE NUCLEAR-ENCODED OEC23 PROTEINOF THE PHOTOSYSTEM-II OXYGEN-EVOLVING COMPLEX, Journal of photochemistry and photobiology.B, Biology, 36(3), 1996, pp. 307-311
The isolated OEC23 (oxygen evolving complex) protein of Photosystem II
can be affinity-labeled by ATP and GTP in the presence of UV light. L
abeling is competed by ADP, AMP and NAD as well as by the ATP analogs
ATP-gamma-S and 5'-p-Fluorosulfonylbenzoyl-adenosine (FSBA) and is inh
ibited by Dithiothreitol (DTT). The physiological significance of this
finding and the possible implication of ATP and GTP binding in thylak
oid membrane dynamics remains to be further investigated.
