The flue gas treatment by electron beam irradiation with the blowing o
f slaked-lime powder was tested in the pilot plant built at a municipa
l waste incinerator. The flue gas containing NOX, SO2 and HCl was irra
diated by electron beam with slaked-lime powder (Ca(OH)(2)). Approxima
tely 70 % of NOX, and 100 % of SO2 and HCl in the flue gas were remove
d by the irradiation at a dose of 10 kGy at 150 degrees C with two sto
ichiometric amount of slaked-lime powder. Lower irradiation temperatur
e and increased amounts of the powder resulted in higher removal rates
of NOx.
