A. Lakhlifi et al., HAFNIA POWDERS (HFO2) - ELABORATION AND CHARACTERIZATION BY TRANSMISSION ELECTRON-MICROSCOPY, Journal of solid state chemistry, 119(2), 1995, pp. 289-298
HfO2 is very similar to ZrO2; the powder preparation routes developed
for ZrO2 ceramics are equally applicable to HfO, ceramics. Cubic HfO2
stabilized by yttrium oxide was prepared at low temperature (<1000 deg
rees C) by oxalic precursors pyrolysis or via molten salts reaction. T
he powders obtained were characterized by X-ray diffraction, granular
distribution, and transmission electron microscopy. TEM has been prove
d to be the best technique to characterize the powder size homogeneity
, chemical composition, and crystallographic structure. (C) 1995 Acade
