Tc. Pinette et al., QUASI-CONTINUOUS WAVE STIMULATED RAMAN TECHNIQUE FOR LOCAL METHANE CONCENTRATION MEASUREMENTS AT ATMOSPHERIC-PRESSURE, Applied spectroscopy, 49(10), 1995, pp. 1507-1512
We report the application of quasi-continuous wave (cw) inverse stimul
ated Raman spectroscopy (SRS) to the quantitative measurement of metha
ne concentrations in atmospheric mixtures near room temperature. The q
uasi-cw SRS signal, with the use of the nu(1) fundamental of methane (
2916 cm(-1)), is shown to be proportional to the powers of both the pu
mp and probe lasers as well as to the methane concentration. The curre
nt minimum detectable signal corresponds to similar to 200 ppm (v/v).
