Abstract
We have developed a convenient method of measuring the temporal chirp structure of white-light continuum pulses used in femtosecond time-res olved absorption spectroscopy. This method, based on the nonresonant o ptical Kerr effect, is superior in many respects to the existing one t hat uses the sum or difference frequency generation by a nonlinear cry stal.
