J. Notholt et al., SHIP-BORNE FT-IR MEASUREMENTS OF ATMOSPHERIC TRACE GASES ON A SOUTH (33-DEGREES-S) TO NORTH (53-DEGREES-N) ATLANTIC TRAVERSE, Applied spectroscopy, 49(10), 1995, pp. 1525-1527
For the first time solar and lunar IR absorption measurements have bee
n performed by means of an PT-IR spectrometer on a lengthy ship cruise
. These measurements were performed in May and June 1994 on board the
German research vessel Polarstern between Cape Town (33 degrees S) and
Bremerhaven (53 degrees N). Spectral analysis of the obtained spectra
allowed retrieval of the total zenith columns of a number of trace ga
ses in the atmosphere and study of the latitudinal dependence of the c
olumn densities of these trace gases.
