A method to analyse sulphate in beer in the presence of organic anions
and sulphite has been developed using a Dionex Ion Chromatography sys
tem. Sulphite was stabilised in the sample by addition of acetaldehyde
, 3.3% (v/v) and, by increasing the acetonitrile concentration of the
eluant to 4.52 % (v/v), sulphate was separated from both malate and su
ccinate without pre-treatment.
