Abstract
Various strategies for the production of lipase by Candida rugosa Didd ens and Lodder (ATCC 14830) in stirred rank reactors were investigated . The strain was first screened for lipase production with agar plate assay based on the fluorescent dye Rhodamine B, followed by adaptation to the production medium used. The highest lipase activity of 7.6 U/m l was obtained on a medium containing 40 g olive oil/l and 1 g glucose /l, with supplying pure oxygen. Neural networks were used in the estim ation of biomass and lipase activity.
