Abstract
A methanol extract of Osyris quadripartita Salzm., with high content o f flavonoids was found to be effective in reducing the increased capil lary permeability induced in rats by various chemical mediators involv ed in the inflammatory process, namely histamine (HA), 5-hydroxy-tript amine (5-HT) and bradykinin (BK), Pretreatment with the MeOH extract ( 250 mg/kg i,p,) afforded significant protection against the increase i n capillary permeability induced by HA (% protection=96.6), 5-HT (% pr otection=53.8) and BK (% protection = 87.9).
