We demonstrate phase-matched second-harmonic generation in a poled pol
ymer waveguide, using anomalous-dispersion phase matching. Phase match
ing was achieved between lowest-order fundamental and harmonic modes,
TM(0)(omega) to TMB(0)(2 omega), ata fundamental wavelength of 815 nm
over a propagation length of 32 mu m. The maximum conversion efficienc
y was eta(exp) = 39%/W cm(2), in good agreement with theory. (C) 1995
