C. Gu et F. Dai, CROSS-TALK NOISE-REDUCTION IN VOLUME HOLOGRAPHIC STORAGE WITH AN EXTENDED RECORDING REFERENCE, Optics letters, 20(22), 1995, pp. 2336-2338
We propose and analyze a novel method of reducing cross-talk noise in
angle-multiplexed volume holographic optical storage. The method recor
ds each hologram by using a reference beam that extends uniformly with
in a narrow spatial frequency bandwidth but reads the memory by using
a plane wave. Our result shows that the signal-to-noise ratio obtained
by the proposed method can be 20 dB higher than that obtained by the
conventional method with planar reference waves. In addition, the exte
nded reference method has a larger tolerance for angle misalignment du
ring readout than the conventional method. Results of numerical simula
tion are presented and discussed. (C) 1995 Optical Society of America
