Rv. Singh et Mps. Arya, NITROGEN REQUIREMENT OF BARNYARD MILLET (ECHINOCHLOA-FRUMENTACEA) PLUS PULSE INTERCROPPING SYSTEMS, Indian Journal of Agronomy, 40(2), 1995, pp. 172-175
A field experiment was conducted during rainy seasons of 1990-92 to st
udy nitrogen need of barnyard millet [Echinochloa frumentacea (L.) Lin
k] + pulse intercropping system. Three levels of nitrogen (50, 75 and
100% of recommended dose) were tested in barnyard millet intercropped
with each of horsegram [Macrotyloma uniflorum (Lam.) Verd.], rice bean
[Vigna umbellata (Thumb.) Ohwi & Ohasi] and Frenchbean (Phaseolus vul
garis L.). The highest barnyard millet-yield equivalent (30.11 q/ha) w
as obtained in barnyard millet + ricebean intercropping with 75% of re
commended N. The land-equivalent ratio (1.40) was also found higher in
the same treatment compared with other treatments.
