Abstract
The results of chemical analyses of 4 prehistorical red deer antlers a nd of 2 giant elk antlers are presented. The differences to the result s of analyses for recent antlers are discussed. Increased concentratio ns of manganese, iron, and fluoride and lower concentrations of magnes ium are due to diagenetic changes of the prehistorical antlers during their storage.
