The mathematical simulation of the radiolysis of aqueous solutions of
HClO4 (0.5 - 12 mol/l) under X-ray irradiation was performed. An optim
al scheme of radiation-chemical reactions was adopted. It was demonstr
ated that the calculated and experimental yields of ClO3- ions are in
good agreement if the yield of ClO3- formation by a direct-action mech
anism is taken equal to 3.2 ion/100 eV. By comparing the calculated an
d experimental yields and the rate curves of ClO2 and Cl- formation, t
he reaction rate constants of HO2 radicals with ClO2- and ClO2 and of
ClO radicals with H2O2 were found.
