Lh. Lewis et al., PHASE-COMPOSITION AND MAGNETIC CHARACTERISTICS OF INERT GAS-ATOMIZED RE-FE-B-BASED POWDERS, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 31(6), 1995, pp. 3641-3643
Microstructure, phase constitution and temperature-dependent magnetic
properties are examined for two size fractions of as-quenched RE-Nd-B-
based powder produced by inert gas atomization for possible use as iso
tropic bonded magnet precursors, The atomized powders consist of the p
hase (Nd,Dy)(2)Fe14B with minute amounts of RE(2)O(3) and gamma-Fe2O3.
Evidence of compositional segregation with particle size is seen, Roo
m-temperature magnetic properties are H-ci=12kOe and B-R=5.4 kG for th
e 10-20 mu m portion, H-ci=1.8 kOe and B-R=3 kG for the 100-150 mu m p
ortion.
