A systematic study of the phase formation in the iron-rich end of the
Dy-Fe-V tertiary system has been carried out using combination of X-ra
y diffraction (XRD), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fe-57 Mossb
auer spectroscopy. A new Dy-3((FeV0.073)-V-0.927)(29) compound has bee
n identified, which crystallizes in the monoclinic Nd-3(Fe1-xTix)(29)
(x=1.24) structure with lattice parameters of a = 10.605(8) Angstrom,
b = 8.475(7) Angstrom, c = 9.672(7) Angstrom and beta = 97.06(4)degree
s, The Curie temperature is 478+/-3 K. The average Fe-57 hyperfine fie
ld Is 20.9(2) T at 293 K, which corresponds to an average Fe magnetic
moment of about 1.49 mu(B).
