The frequency dependence of the piezomagnetic strain coefficient (g(33
)) has been investigated through Plane Wave Model characterisation of
a Terfenol-D sample. It is found to have a frequency dependence of 1/r
oot omega with a corresponding frequency dependent loss term. It is pr
oposed that this frequency dependence in g(33) is a consequence of the
mechanical defects in the material which affect the magnetic properti
es of the material through the magnetomechanical coupling k(33).
