Abstract
Models currently used in the interpretation of measured values of satu ration magnetostriction constant in multilayers are reviewed, A new ex pression applicable to magnetic/non-magnetic multilayers is developed with the advantage that no assumptions need be made as to input parame ters. Data obtained with the new formalism are consistent with accepte d values for polycrystalline materials. The interface effect depends o n the material used for this layer.
