Abstract
The size effect on the magnetic and electronic properties of an impuri ty in finite systems is investigated based on the Anderson admixture m odel in real space. Within tile self-consistent mean field approximati on, it is found that the formation of the local magnetic moment strong ly depends on the size of finite linear quantum chains up to a few nan ometers. The density of states for the local electrons is also obtaine d.
