Abstract
We study the stability of diluted samples of Fe3O4 ferrofluid under th e action of gravitational field, uniform magnetic field and gradient m agnetic field. The dilution was carried out by adding carrier liquid t o the ratio (40:1) to the undiluted sample which has a concentration ( packing fraction) epsilon(0) = 0.154. The samples under study were pre pared from the diluted sample and adding oleic acid by volume (0%, 4%, 14%, 20%, 30% and 40%). The results show that at 12% oleic acid ratio the samples have the better stability at all fields under study.
