Ei. Sokolov et al., SPECIAL FEATURES OF DIABETIC CORONARO-CAR DIOPATHY - EXERCISE TL-201 MYOCARDIAL SCINTIGRAPHY DATA, Kardiologia, 36(10), 1996, pp. 68-72
Patients with insulin-dependent diabetes, with non-insulin dependent d
iabetes and with non-insulin-dependend diabetes combined with ischemic
heart disease comprised respectively three groups studied by myocardi
al imaging with Thallium-201 during bicycle exercise test. In patients
with diabetes of both types scintigraphy revealed myocardial hypoperf
usion and signs of myocardial ischemia. Myocardial damage in diabetes
mellitus was caused by metabolic disturbances and was different in pat
ients with insulindependent (type I) and non-insulin-dependent (type I
I) diabetes. In type II it was mainly caused by widespread microangiop
athy. In type 2 cardiomyopathy resembled ischemic heart disease with r
apid progression and with some special features of clinical course. An
alysis of scitigrams revealed close correlation between frequency of r
egistration and extent of myocardial perfusion defects and tolerance t
o physical effort.
