SCALE-UP STUDIES FOR THE PREPARATION OF PILLARED LAYERED CLAYS AT 1 KG PER BATCH LEVEL

The production of novel materials on industrial scale starting from la boratory recipes is based on research and development at various scale s. Laboratory data and experience give information not directly applic able to large scales. Modification of the preparation process at diffe rent scales requires research for controlling the impact of operating variables on product properties at each process stage. Scale-up resear ch reveals key parameters, controlling steps and indicates process rou tes and constraints in the light of process economics. Under the guide lines of existing laboratory data a manufacturing process was establis hed for the production of up to 1 kg per batch Al- and Al/Fe-PILCs rep roducibly.
