Abstract
Adaptive function of superoxide dismutase polymorphism was revealed in chronically irradiated natural populations of cornflower Centaurea sc abiosa. In 12 generations of exposure to persistent ionizing radiation , the frequency of the S allele of this polymorphic locus increased to 65%, and the frequency of the P allele decreased to 35%.
