By means of biochemical genetics methods, sympatrically existing popul
ations of recently described new species Salvelinus levanidovi, and S.
malma were studied. Variation at 41 enzyme loci and myogen spectra we
re analyzed. Alternative fixed alleles at GPI-A and SOD-1 loci, statis
tically significant differences in allele frequencies of some homologo
us polymorphic loci, and specific differences in myogen spectra were f
ound in these species. The results obtained suggest complete absence o
f gene flow between these species. The values of genetic distances bet
ween S. levanidovi and S. malma and between these species and S. leuco
maenis, S. leucomaenis serving as a ''true'' species are similar.
