Transformation of row material to the consumption goods proceeds by th
e succession of various technologies using energy and chemicals. Relat
ive contribution of the both factors is bro'dly varied. The chemical r
eagents are not per se consumption goods and their production is auxil
iary. Maximal usage of chemicals is observed in conventional technolog
ies. On the contrary radiation technology does not need chemicals. The
refore usage of radiation technology leads to diminution of chemical p
rocessing and hence to the attenuation of the technological press on t
he environment. As examples the radiation technological methods in con
version of coal and biomass are considered.
