Abstract
Sterilization by ionizing radiation has become, next to ethylene oxide treatment, the most important ''cold'' sterilization process for medi cal devices made from plastics. The effects of ionizing radiation on t he most important polymer for medical devices, ultra-high molecular-we ight polyethylene, are briefly described in this review.
