There are many ways of defining a well-healed wound. Clinicians, scien
tists, and health care administrators may all have differing views of
what constitutes a well-healed wound. In addition to the aspects of he
aling that these groups may consider as being important in wound heali
ng, the means of measuring wound healing may be diverse and vary in ob
jectivity. This paper attempts to address some of these difficulties a
nd hopefully emphasizes the importance of continuing to question ways
of defining a well-healed wound as this is an important but neglected
aspect of wound healing.
