Abstract
Synthesis of 8-(alkoxy) dinaphtho [2, 1-d: 1', 2',-g][1, 3, 6, 2] diox athiaphosphocin-8-oxides is described. The initial reaction involved t he cyclization of bis (2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl) sulfide with phosphorus o xychloride in dry toluene to generate 8- chorodinaphtho [2, 1-d: 1', 2 '-g][1, 3,6,2] dioxathiaphosphocin-8-oxide. Esterification of the latt er with a variety of alcohols produced the title compounds. The compou nds were characterized by elemental analyses and spectral data.
