Abstract
The abilities of object and spatial properties memory were examined us ing Soroban learners and Novice children as subjects. Experiment 1 com pared recall performances between two groups using: digit and shape st imuli, and found that the Soroban learners were superior in performanc e of digit recall but not of shape recall. Experiment 2 examined the m emory of categorical and spatial properties with Soroban and Novice ch ildren. The results showed that the Soroban learners were superior in the processing of the spatial properties. Based upon these results, ef fects of Soroban learning on brain function were discussed.
