Abstract
The high-temperature, molten alkali-metal polyselenide salt reaction o f the elements yielded a new, porous-layered rare-earth selenodiphosph ate(IV), KLaP2Se6, that comprises uniquely bound [P2Se6](4-) units tha t bind lanthanum atoms through face-capping interactions. This is the first known rare-earth selenodiphosphate(IV) compound.
