Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a new design of W-shaped chiral clefts with C-2 symmetry is presented. The molecules are based on the 2,6-diarylbenzoic acid motif. A series of syn/anti isomers are discuss ed with respect to their symmetry,configurational stability, and suita bility for the development of chiral materials.
