Tetrakis(9-anthryl) substituted porphyrin 1 was synthesized. In the pr
esence of TFA, the porphyrin moiety was protonated to form dication wh
ich, upon excitation, accepts an electron from the anthryl moiety to y
ield an emissive CT state.
