Jp. Novak et R. Bartnikas, IONIZATION AND EXCITATION BEHAVIOR IN A MICROCAVITY, IEEE transactions on dielectrics and electrical insulation, 2(5), 1995, pp. 724-728
The excitation and ionization behavior of a 5 mu m cavity, subjected t
o an electric field of 270 kV/cm, has been examined. Data on the produ
ction of electrons, ions, dissociated molecules and excited species is
presented and the associated charge transfer characteristics are cons
idered. The implications of the ionization and excitation processes, a
s concerns their effect upon the degradation rate of solid insulation,
are discussed.
