Abstract
When two nearby lateral alkoxy chains are introduced on the same side of a mesogenic core, a large nematic range can be obtained. The metall omesogens derived from these ligands exhibit the same behavior. Meltin g points near room temperature are observed when the two lateral chain s contain a sufficient number of carbons.
