Abstract
A method for detecting the secondarily austenitized areas on the groun d surface of high-speed steel P6M5 has been developed. The method cons ists of potentiostatic etching by 20% H3PO4 (E(etch) = 0.18 V, NSCE) a nd recording the curves ''current density vs. time''. This enables one to detect the areas visually and to determine their thickness.
