Abstract
During the synthesis of yttrium iron garnet, an excess of yttrium or i ron can result in a significant deterioration of the magnetic properti es due to the formation of secondary phases which, because of their po or magnetic properties, play the same role as porosity. This paper dem onstrates how the synthesis of YIG by coprecipitation enables us to pr event the formation of secondary phases when there is an excess of ytt rium with respect to iron. In this case, insertion losses in the mater ial do not increase.
