Abstract
Four-hundred-and-twenty-three medical in-patients received the CAGE, b rief Michigan Alcohol Screening Test (MAST) and Readiness to Change (R CQ) questionnaires. Those positive on the CAGE and MAST were more like ly to be in contemplation and action phases of the RCQ, suggesting tha t simple questionnaires identify patients who not only have drinking p roblems but are ready to make changes to combat them.
