J. Hemp, WEIGHT VECTOR FOR THERMAL-DIFFUSION FLOWMETERS .2. APPLICATION TO A PARTICULAR CONFIGURATION, FLOW MEASUREMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION, 6(3), 1995, pp. 149-156
The linear theory of thermal diffusion flowmeters developed in Part 1
of this paper is here applied to the Hastings configuration and to its
particular realisation by Komiya, Higuchi and Ohtani. The axisymmetri
c weight function for this configuration is worked out and used to pre
dict the flowmeter sensitivity to a fully developed laminar flow profi
le. The conditions for validity of the weight vector approach for rect
ilinear flow and for the neglect of free convection are worked out for
the Hastings configuration. In long and narrow Hastings flowmeters th
ese conditions are much less restrictive than the general conditions e
stablished in Part 1 of the paper.
