Abstract
A simple modification to a standard hot-wire probe enables it to be us ed to measure surface shear in an air flow. A careful calibration give s a limited linear calibration curve that represents both laminar and turbulent flows. The several advantages of the device, including its u se where other techniques cannot be used, are described.
